Job Description
Software Engineer building backend services, APIs, and Vue applications for Coursedog’s academic operations platform. Delivering scalable features that help colleges and universities improve student success.
Responsibilities:
- Build and maintain backend services and APIs
- Develop and maintain frontend applications using TypeScript and Vue or similar frameworks
- Design, implement, and maintain well-structured, testable code
- Review pull requests and provide constructive, actionable feedback
- Debug, refactor, and improve existing systems, including legacy components
- Use AI tools across coding, debugging, and documentation
- Collaborate with cross-functional partners to deliver features and resolve issues
- Establish and document engineering best practices for the team
- Own problems from scoping through release, including new development and system improvements
Requirements:
- Experience writing TypeScript and modern JavaScript in production applications
- Experience building frontend applications with Vue.js or a similar framework
- Experience developing backend services with Node.js
- Knowledge of REST APIs and software design principles
- Experience with MongoDB, Redis, and relational databases
- Strong debugging and problem-solving skills
- Ability to learn new systems quickly in ambiguous problem spaces
- Strong communication skills with technical and non-technical partners
- Experience using AI tools to speed up development while maintaining code quality
- Nice to have: experience with AWS, queues, or serverless systems such as Lambda
- Nice to have: exposure to AI-powered or AI-adjacent systems
- Nice to have: backend experience beyond Node.js, such as Python, Java, or .NET
