Job Description
Software Engineer building conversational voice AI, backend services, and EHR integrations for Clarus Care. Supporting HIPAA-compliant patient communication and revenue cycle workflows.
Responsibilities:
- Build, extend, and support conversational voice AI features on Clarus's CIVR inbound and Engage outbound platforms
- Work with telephony infrastructure including Twilio/Telnyx and LiveKit
- Integrate speech-to-text/text-to-speech services such as Deepgram and LLMs
- Improve call flow logic, caller authentication, escalation and warm-transfer behavior, and conversational accuracy
- Contribute to backend services, EHR integrations, and data pipelines supporting revenue cycle and patient communication workflows
- Participate in code reviews and write and maintain tests
- Document technical designs
- Collaborate with the VP of AI Engineering and cross-functional product and compliance teams
- Monitor and troubleshoot production issues
- Participate in light on-call support and root-cause analysis
- Contribute to long-term fixes and continuous improvement
Requirements:
- No specific degree is required; equivalent skills gained through coursework, bootcamps, self-directed learning, or personal/open-source projects are acceptable
- 0–2 years of professional or applied project experience in software engineering, including internships, coursework projects, or personal projects
- Working proficiency in at least one modern programming language, such as Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, or Node.js
- Understanding of REST APIs, webhooks, and third-party service integrations
- Familiarity with Git and collaborative development workflows, including code review, pull requests, and CI/CD
- Basic understanding of cloud infrastructure concepts; AWS preferred
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to learn new technologies quickly
- Strong written communication and self-management skills
- Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively in a fully remote, asynchronous environment
- Must have and maintain in good standing a professional license, certificate, or registration, as applicable
- Ability to maintain a private setting appropriate for confidential PHI work
- Successful completion of a pre-employment drug screen, including medical and recreational marijuana screening
