Job Description

Staff Accountant managing reconciliations, payroll, taxes, and financial statements for privately held businesses. Supporting Boulay’s outsourced accounting and advisory services for client organizations.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage daily transaction accounting activities, including sales, bank, and other account reconciliations
  • Manage inventory, accruals, prepaids, equity accounting, accounts receivable, and accounts payable
  • Manage critical client deadlines
  • Process and prepare payroll
  • Prepare expense reimbursements
  • Discuss and explain transactions and processes with clients in group or one-on-one settings
  • Identify potential risks, concerns, or issues regarding client files
  • Maintain accounting records through data entry and file management
  • Prepare complex sales and use tax returns
  • Ensure compliance with relevant reporting requirements
  • Maintain charts of accounts
  • Monitor and maintain fixed assets
  • Prepare and review 1099 filings
  • Prepare or assist with financial statements
  • Identify issues and communicate status updates to team members or Partners
  • Represent the Firm professionally
  • Follow Firm regulations, ethical standards, and governing-body requirements
  • Develop an understanding of clients' business practices
  • Work cross-departmentally to accomplish projects and tasks

Requirements:

  • Associates Degree in Accounting
  • 2+ years of related experience
  • Strong computer skills and proficiency in various accounting and other software, including Microsoft Office Suite
  • Strong knowledge of all areas of the general ledger, along with reconciliations and month-end / year-end close procedures
  • Knowledge of GAAP
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills along with the ability to drive client and team meetings
  • Ability to creatively solve problems and analyze client data
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting preferred
  • Experience with QuickBooks (desktop or online) and/or other general ledger software preferred
