Job Description
Staff Accountant maintaining bookkeeping, reconciliations, and cash flow for a U.S. immigration law firm. Improving financial workflows and reporting remotely across Asia with Pacific Time overlap.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date bookkeeping across all accounts
- Categorize transactions consistently and correctly in QuickBooks
- Reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, and payment platforms
- Monitor data integrity and promptly resolve discrepancies
- Track and manage ongoing cash flow
- Maintain visibility into incoming and outgoing funds
- Support cash flow forecasts and provide liquidity insights to leadership
- Identify potential cash flow risks or irregularities early
- Review, document, and optimize internal financial workflows
- Improve expense tracking, billing processes, and internal controls
- Ensure financial processes are efficient, scalable, and well-documented
- Recommend and implement system improvements
- Prepare clear, structured financial reports for internal use
- Support budgeting and forecasting with organized financial data
- Collaborate with external CPAs during tax filings, audits, and reviews
- Ensure compliance with U.S. accounting standards and internal policies
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (required)
- 5+ years of bookkeeping or accounting experience
- At least 2 years in a bookkeeping or accounting role for a U.S. company (required)
- Strong expertise in QuickBooks (required)
- Proven experience with detailed categorization and financial cleanup (required)
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and process-driven
- Comfortable working independently in a fully remote environment
- Full-time availability, 8 hours per day excluding a 1-hour break
- Minimum of 6 hours of overlap with the firm’s Pacific Time operating hours
- Proof of qualifications and professional references may be required
- A short detail or accuracy assessment and practical bookkeeping or financial organization task may be required
- 3-month probationary period
- Independent contractor responsible for own tax compliance
