Job Description
Staff GenAI Engineer building scalable voice and speech AI platforms for Weave, a healthcare communications technology company. Leading ML infrastructure, architecture, and cross-team technical strategy.
Responsibilities:
- Design and develop ML infrastructure, tooling, and models for world-class customer experiences
- Build internal and external products and platforms enabling AI features and customer-facing products
- Translate product goals into engineering plans and build scalable, resilient data integration and event-processing services
- Help product and development teams understand the data lifecycle and advise on common ML patterns and tradeoffs
- Coach and collaborate across teams to elevate technical standards
- Write high-quality, performant, sustainable, and testable cloud-based code
- Monitor industry developments and guide strategic technology initiatives
- Shape company-wide standards for engineering excellence, observability, and distributed-system reliability
- Mentor Staff and Senior Engineers across the Data Fellowship
- Elevate architectural thinking through design reviews, documentation standards, and hands-on guidance
- Build lasting organizational technical capability
- Partner with Engineering Managers, Staff Engineers, and cross-functional stakeholders
- Report to the Sr Director of Engineering
Requirements:
- Demonstrable experience building and deploying ML-driven B2B multi-tenant applications in production at scale for external products and customers
- Deep expertise in distributed-systems architecture, including services handling hundreds of millions of transactions and terabytes of data
- 15+ years of experience in Machine Learning or AI, focused on or specializing in audio and voice GenAI solutions at scale
- Deep expertise with LLMs, RAG, prompt engineering, fine-tuning, high-scale audio/voice models, and LLM evaluations
- Strong background in scalable relational data stores, including PostgreSQL at scale, Vitess, and Spanner
- Strong background in scalable NoSQL data stores, including Bigtable and Redis
- Operational experience with GCP or AWS cloud-native infrastructure
- Experience with Kubernetes, infrastructure-as-code, and highly available system design
- Track record of leading cross-team technical initiatives with measurable business outcomes
- Ability to influence without direct authority, build consensus across organizational boundaries, and translate technical tradeoffs into business terms
- Deep production experience delivering customer-facing GenAI at scale
- Experience building low-latency, high-accuracy AI agents
- Mandatory deep production experience delivering meaningful audio or voice solutions to external products at scale
- Background in compliance-heavy environments such as healthcare or fintech
- Experience navigating regulatory requirements in technical design
- External technical leadership through open-source contributions, conference speaking, or published technical writing
- Successful completion of a background check
- Must be legally eligible to work in the US
- Must disclose whether visa sponsorship is currently or prospectively required
