Job Description

Staff ML Engineer leading forecasting, supply positioning, and fleet optimization systems. Shaping technical strategy for Lime’s shared micromobility platform serving cities worldwide.

Responsibilities:

  • Define the technical vision and roadmap for ML systems powering forecasting, supply positioning, and fleet optimization
  • Lead end-to-end execution of complex, cross-functional ML initiatives from problem framing through production impact
  • Ensure ML initiatives align with business goals
  • Act as the primary technical decision-maker, setting architecture, modeling approaches, and engineering standards
  • Mentor and develop engineers
  • Partner with product and operations leadership to shape strategy and prioritize investments
  • Establish best practices for ML development, deployment, monitoring, and iteration at scale
  • Identify and drive high-leverage opportunities while balancing short-term impact with long-term platform and modeling investments
  • Contribute hands-on to critical parts of the codebase
  • Write clean, maintainable, well-tested code using AI-assisted development workflows while maintaining validation, security, and ownership standards
  • Translate ambiguous, high-stakes mobility problems into executable strategies and plans
  • Guide engineers to deliver scalable, high-impact systems influencing supply and fleet optimization for Lime’s shared micromobility business

Requirements:

  • 7+ years of experience in software engineering and machine learning
  • Track record of leading large, complex ML systems in production
  • Experience acting as a technical lead or de facto team lead
  • Experience driving projects across multiple engineers and stakeholders
  • Strong system design skills
  • Experience architecting scalable ML systems, data pipelines, and real-time or batch inference systems
  • Ability to translate ambiguous business problems into clear technical strategies and deliver measurable impact
  • Experience mentoring and developing engineers
  • Strong coding skills in Python
  • Experience with modern ML frameworks such as PyTorch and TensorFlow
  • Experience with data tools such as SQL and Spark
  • Experience using AI-assisted development tools for coding, debugging, testing, documentation, technical exploration, and analysis
  • Ability to validate AI-assisted outputs, identify risks and failure modes, protect sensitive information, and determine when deeper manual review is required
  • Preferred: experience owning or leading ML platforms or systems at company or org-wide scale
  • Preferred: background in time-series modeling, forecasting, optimization, or operations research applied to real-world systems
  • Preferred: familiarity with experimentation frameworks, causal inference, and decision-making under uncertainty
  • Candidates must reside in and work remotely from the United States
