Job Description

Staff Software Engineer building secure access-control and cluster-management systems for DDN’s AI storage platform. Designing distributed, observable infrastructure across authentication, authorization, and identity services.

Responsibilities:

  • Design and build the Cluster management platform
  • Act as the primary technical authority for authentication, authorization, and identity logic within the Software Defined Storage solution
  • Partner with senior leadership and domain experts to evolve core infrastructure and transition technical responsibilities
  • Collaborate with the security team to implement compliant, high-performance user access controls
  • Conduct expert code reviews and mentor mid-level engineers
  • Create detailed documentation for identity systems
  • Participate in the Scrum lifecycle from ideation and prototyping through testing and maintenance
  • Ensure high regression coverage for sensitive code paths
  • Participate in the global on-call rotation and provide high-level support for the distributed infrastructure

Requirements:

  • 12+ years of backend development experience
  • Deep proficiency in Go, C++, or Python within high-scale distributed systems
  • In-depth knowledge of RBAC, ABAC, and multi-tenancy models in containerized or orchestrated environments
  • Practical experience with TLS/mTLS, PKI management, certificate lifecycles, and OAuth2/OIDC
  • Working knowledge of Consul, etcd, or other key/value stores for service discovery and global cluster state
  • Experience bridging security mandates and storage control-plane performance requirements
  • Proven results working with geographically distributed teams using asynchronous communication, RFCs, and design documents
  • History of owning mission-critical domains, including long-term health, documentation, and scalability
  • Experience developing API servers, controllers, or management layers for storage or compute resources
  • Experience collaborating with experts to document system architecture and institutionalize knowledge
  • Experience using Prometheus and OpenTelemetry
  • Ability to simplify complex access challenges into developer-friendly CLI and API experiences
  • Strong prioritization and communication skills
  • Ability to participate in a global on-call rotation
