Job Description
Staff Backend Developer building Unity’s real-time advertising infrastructure for global game monetization. Designing scalable APIs and distributed systems for ad delivery, bidding, analytics, and reporting.
Responsibilities:
- Design, build, and modernize backend services and APIs supporting ad delivery
- Work on scalable, highly available systems across Unity’s advertising ecosystem
- Collaborate with engineers, product managers, and data teams to deliver new features
- Improve performance, observability, and cost efficiency of backend systems
- Modernize the legacy technology stack
- Contribute to architectural decisions and the platform’s technical direction
- Build real-time systems powering Unity Ads’ global advertising platform
- Support ad requests, impression tracking, user data analytics, ad delivery, bidding, reporting, and analytics
Requirements:
- Experience building backend services at scale
- Proficiency in Golang and relational databases such as MySQL
- Familiarity with cloud infrastructure and observability tools such as Kubernetes and Ray
- Understanding of API design, distributed systems, and system reliability
- Strong collaboration and communication skills in a remote-first team environment
- English proficiency sufficient for professional verbal and written exchanges
- Experience in ad tech, programmatic advertising, or real-time bidding systems
- Background with infrastructure-as-code such as Terraform
- Familiarity with networking, caching, or real-time data pipelines
- Work visa or immigration sponsorship is not available
