Job Description

Steam launch marketing lead driving store optimization, creator seeding, and community growth for Wooster Games’ unannounced multiplayer PC game. Turning demos and player-generated clips into wishlists and launch sales.

Responsibilities:

  • Own the Steam launch plan from demo through launch and the first 30 days
  • Build and run the timeline covering the Steam store page, demo release, Steam Next Fest, creator waves, and launch week
  • Manage and optimize the Steam store page, including capsule art, trailer, GIFs, short description, and tags
  • Test store-page elements and iterate with the art team
  • Identify suitable Twitch and YouTube creators and run creator seeding campaigns
  • Pitch creators, distribute keys using Keymailer, Lurkit, or similar tools, manage embargoes, and track video performance and wishlist impact
  • Collaborate with the design team to create shareable gameplay moments
  • Capture and distribute short-form content on TikTok, YouTube Shorts, X, and Reddit
  • Direct short-form content and brief creators
  • Establish and grow the Discord, Steam community hub, and subreddit
  • Convert demo players into playtesters and playtesters into evangelists
  • Run Steam Next Fest, including demo preparation, creator coordination, and developer livestream scheduling
  • Report weekly on wishlist velocity, creator reach, demo installs and retention, and launch conversion
  • Advise the CEO and game lead on performance and required changes

Requirements:

  • Shipped at least one game on Steam where you owned marketing and can show the wishlist curve and what moved it
  • Hands-on Steam knowledge: store page optimization, demo timing, Next Fest, featuring, discovery algorithm, wishlist velocity, and launch-week sales
  • Ran a creator seeding campaign at scale involving hundreds of creators, key distribution tooling, embargoes, and tracking
  • Deep familiarity with multiplayer and co-op games on PC
  • Ability to explain with numbers how a breakout indie game found its audience on Steam
  • Short-form content instinct for TikTok and YouTube Shorts; ability to brief an editor or cut content yourself
  • Comfortable owning strategy, execution, and reporting as the whole marketing team, with contractors and agencies
  • Reads “How to Market a Game” and “GameDiscoverCo”
  • Nice to have: experience at an indie publisher or indie-focused marketing agency
  • Nice to have: experience building a Discord community from zero to tens of thousands
  • Nice to have: game sense to challenge design when a mechanic will not clip well
  • Nice to have: existing relationships with PC gaming streamers and content creators
  • Nice to have: experience with Early Access launches and post-launch update marketing

Benefits:

  • Fully remote work arrangement
  • Profitable, independent studio environment
  • Full-time employment
  • 6-month contract through launch is possible
  • Opportunity to own the Steam launch marketing plan and work directly with the CEO and game's lead
