Job Description
Strategic Project Lead scaling software-engineering data programs for Turing’s frontier AI labs. Managing quality, contributors, client delivery, and operational systems at scale.
Responsibilities:
- Own the production system behind Turing’s software-engineering data programs
- Design and manage data pipelines from customer specification to final delivery, accountable for scope, timeline, and quality
- Scope and establish coding workstreams across supervised demonstrations, agentic trajectories, RL environments, benchmark construction, and rubric-graded evaluation
- Diagnose bottlenecks, resequence workflows, refine instructions, create incentive systems, and scale review processes
- Own quality control across the annotation lifecycle and close quality gaps
- Analyze datasets for trends, anomalies, and systematic errors and fix root causes
- Implement and improve annotation, evaluation, and curation practices
- Coordinate 100–1,000+ distributed software-engineering contributors
- Define contributor profiles and partner with talent teams on sourcing, assessment, onboarding, and ramping
- Own contributor training, performance management, reviewer capacity, incentives, and corrective actions
- Build team-lead and reviewer structures
- Serve as primary contact for frontier AI lab researchers and program managers
- Translate research intent into task specifications and challenge ineffective specifications
- Build long-term client relationships and identify expansion opportunities
- Use Python, SQL, or other tools to automate quality sampling, defect classification, throughput analysis, and weekly reporting
- Convert successful workflows into reusable playbooks, quality controls, evaluation assets, and contributor-management systems
- Share lessons and mentor other Strategic Project Leads
- Within 30 days, establish baselines, validate controls, and independently lead a defined workstream
- Within 90 days, deliver predictable throughput and quality and improve a material operating metric
- Within 180 days, run concurrent programs, create reusable assets, support account expansion, and help another lead adopt the operating system
Requirements:
- Background in software engineering, technical program management, consulting, finance, startups, or other operationally intense environments
- Proven track record managing complex, multi-stakeholder projects
- Strong analytical and communication abilities
- Customer-facing experience with high-profile clients, expectation management, and long-term relationship building
- Excitement for process optimization and large-scale execution
- Ability to read and review code
- Ability to follow pull requests in Python, TypeScript, Java, or Go
- Ability to read a test suite and independently judge delivered tasks
- Bonus: experience with agentic evaluation harnesses, software engineering benchmarks, or RL environments
- Bonus: experience managing large distributed contributor networks or marketplaces
- Bonus: prior work at an AI data vendor or frontier lab
