Job Description
Structural Designer II designing foundations, support structures, and retaining walls for RRC’s renewable energy projects. Coordinating CAD deliverables, clients, and multidisciplinary engineering teams.
Responsibilities:
- Perform structural analysis and design for foundation systems including direct embed, drilled piers, spread footings, piles, and caissons
- Analyze and design wood, tubular steel, lattice steel, precast concrete, fiber-reinforced, and laminated wood pole and support structures
- Design retaining wall systems, including soldier pile walls, rock anchors, and grouting solutions
- Review geotechnical reports, survey data, mapping, and materials testing results using industry-standard modeling software
- Coordinate with the Drafting Group to develop accurate, constructible CAD design drawings
- Plan, define, and manage structural scope of work, including task definition, scheduling, and on-time delivery
- Interface directly with clients to clarify requirements and provide value engineering solutions
- Collaborate with Project Managers and Civil, Substation, and Transmission engineering teams
- Evaluate environmental impacts and project-related risks
- Deliver designs compliant with applicable codes, standards, specifications, regulatory requirements, and health and safety standards
- Prepare construction and material specifications
- Develop bills of materials (BOMs)
- Establish, implement, and adhere to QA/QC procedures
- Manage multiple concurrent projects and coordinate assigned work
Requirements:
- Minimum of 2-4 years of structural engineering consulting and design experience
- Bachelor of Science degree in Civil or Structural Engineering
- Proficiency in STAAD Pro required
- Experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D, LPILE, MFAD, RISA, MathCAD, PLS-CADD, TOWER, and POLE preferred
- Experience supporting permitting, engineering design, and construction activities
- Substation engineering consulting experience preferred
- Proficient in the Microsoft Office Suite
- Strong written, verbal, and presentation skills, with a demonstrated focus on client service
- Self-motivated professional capable of exercising independent judgment
- Proven ability to manage multiple tasks and rapidly adapt to shifting priorities
- Working knowledge of applicable design codes and standards, including IBC, ASCE, AISC/ANSI, ACI, ASTM, NESC, and IEEE
- Must verify identity and eligibility to work in the United States upon hire
