Job Description
Substation sales specialist combining electrical infrastructure expertise with commercial sales. Developing optimization, modernization, maintenance, and lifecycle-service opportunities for U.S. power customers.
Responsibilities:
- Engage with customers to understand their substation assets, operating environment, maintenance practices, challenges, and future requirements
- Identify and develop opportunities related to substation optimization, maintenance, modernization, monitoring, and lifecycle services
- Support the front-end sales organization in qualifying opportunities and determining steps to progress them
- Build trusted working relationships with customer technical and operational stakeholders
- Use technical knowledge of substation equipment and systems to identify customer needs and potential service opportunities
- Work alongside sales and technical colleagues during customer engagements and site visits
- Translate technical discussions and customer challenges into commercially viable opportunities and customer value propositions
- Support proposals, pipeline opportunities, and sales activities from early-stage engagement through order
- Understand customers’ maintenance and operational approaches, asset age, and lifecycle or modernization needs
- Participate in customer meetings, site visits, industry events, and trade shows
- Collaborate with internal technical specialists and assessment resources to develop appropriate solutions
- Share customer insights, market intelligence, and opportunities with the wider sales and service organization
- Maintain accurate opportunity information and contribute to sales pipeline development and forecasting
- Travel regularly across the United States to support customer engagements and opportunities
Requirements:
- Candidate must already have work authorization that permits them to work in the United States
- No sponsorship is available
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, Business, or a related field; or equivalent experience (10+ years)
- 10+ years of relevant experience within the substation, electrical infrastructure, power systems, or related industry
- Strong technical understanding of substation assets, systems, operations, maintenance, or lifecycle management
- Experience working with substations in a customer-facing environment, ideally within operations & maintenance, field services, engineering services, technical sales, or service sales
- Commercial experience identifying customer needs, developing opportunities, and supporting the sales process from initial engagement through proposal and order
- Experience selling or supporting the sale of substation services, maintenance, modernization, optimization, monitoring, or related solutions is highly relevant
- Strong customer-facing communication and relationship-building skills
- Demonstrated ability to navigate customer challenges, identify appropriate next steps, and help move complex opportunities forward
- Experience with utility, industrial, data center, oil & gas, renewable energy, or other large electrical infrastructure customers is advantageous
- Experience working for a substation equipment, service, maintenance, engineering, or electrical infrastructure provider is strongly preferred
- Willingness and ability to travel extensively across the United States, with occasional international travel as required
- Strong presentation, communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
