Job Description

Tax Administrator I preparing mutual fund tax work papers, distributions, and regulatory filings for Ultimus Fund Solutions. Supporting audits and compliance with federal and state tax requirements.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform mutual fund regulatory and tax reporting functions to support client fund objectives
  • Prepare estimated year-end income and capital gain distributions
  • Prepare Subchapter M and Excise tax provision work papers
  • Calculate fund distribution requirements for income and excise requirements
  • Prepare tax work papers and distribution analyses for mutual funds
  • Determine fund tax status of investments and identify book and tax differences
  • Analyze general ledger accounts to roll forward tax accounts and identify items requiring different tax treatment from book
  • Research and analyze federal and state tax laws, regulations, and regulatory or court rulings for presentation to managers
  • Participate with the financial administration department in developing tax and regulatory compliance reporting for regulatory agencies, board of directors, and financial officers
  • Maintain current knowledge of IRS tax law requirements
  • Gather information for external audit firms, regulatory agencies, IRS requests, and formal or informal audits
  • Coordinate with the financial administration department regarding tax implications of investment activities
  • Contact regulatory agencies and audit firms regarding general information, issue resolution, and reporting requirement inquiries
  • Perform other duties as required and assigned

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, tax, accounting, finance, or related field
  • 0–2 years of experience with taxation and administration of mutual funds
  • Equivalent education and experience will be considered
  • Knowledge of tax laws and procedures applicable to investment companies
  • Microsoft Office Suite proficiency
  • Adobe Acrobat proficiency
  • Creative and critical thinking skills for troubleshooting
