Job Description
Technical Application Engineer leading technical bids and customer solutions for GE Vernova’s grid automation portfolio. Supporting Digital Control Systems, cybersecurity, and substation automation across DACH.
Responsibilities:
- Advise internal and external customers on the entire Grid Automation portfolio, with a focus on Digital Control Systems, cybersecurity, patch management, and IED asset management
- Provide customer support by phone and in person
- Represent GE Vernova as a technology and business partner
- Independently analyze and resolve customer inquiries using engineering methods
- Support the Commercial and Sales organizations with technical solutions, product presentations, technical negotiations, and formal bids
- Take technical ownership of assigned tenders, from solution architecture through compliance verification
- Manage competitive, requirements-compliant bids throughout the entire bidding process
- Attend trade fairs, seminars, and conferences as required
- Coordinate and manage commercial and technical Grid Automation activities for the respective region
Requirements:
- Completed degree in electrical engineering, electronics engineering, power engineering, automation engineering, or a comparable technical field—or alternatively, completed advanced training as a state-certified technician or master craftsperson in electrical engineering or a related technical field
- In-depth knowledge of power system protection and/or Substation Control Systems for transmission and distribution networks
- Advanced knowledge of cybersecurity and software environments, including DCS, SCADA, and remote access
- Working knowledge of power system protection, substation automation, and remote terminal units (RTUs) to support customers in selecting and implementing suitable solutions
- Excellent written and spoken German and English
- Willingness to travel nationally and internationally
- Experience with network protocols, HMI systems, and relevant software packages
- Ideally, experience with IEC 61850-based substation automation solutions
