Job Description
Vendor alliances consultant managing strategic vendor lifecycles, contracts, negotiations, and performance for Capital Blue Cross. Supporting healthcare business stakeholders with risk, cost, and value optimization.
Responsibilities:
- Lead all components of the vendor lifecycle for Tier 1 and Tier 2 vendors, including vendor strategy and prioritization, negotiation strategy development and execution, cross-functional business engagement, vendor oversight and performance management, and value realization tracking
- Participate as a strategic contributor in RFP, RFI, and RFQ sourcing events
- Define sourcing requirements, evaluate vendor responses, and support negotiation strategy and final vendor selection decisions
- Improve strategic vendor management practices, including vendor prioritization, negotiation effectiveness, benchmarking utilization, and stakeholder engagement
- Draft, negotiate, obtain approval for, and execute vendor contracts
- Monitor vendors’ performance against contracts, including performance guarantees and service levels
- Communicate regularly with internal business stakeholders regarding vendor performance
- Participate in decisions to disengage or renew vendors and assist with disengagement or renewal
- Identify and implement process improvements to increase overall vendor lifecycle effectiveness
- Work with Privacy, Security, Legal, and Compliance to ensure the Vendor Lifecycle follows relevant policies, procedures, laws, and regulations
- Represent Vendor Alliances in internal work groups and Department/Division strategy meetings
- Advise business groups on processes and strategies that align, or do not align, with vendor contract terms and conditions
- Assist in developing and modifying Capital's vendor strategy, including sourcing, negotiation, oversight, and disengagement
- Serve as an internal consultant to business areas on vendor strategy and engagement
Requirements:
- 3 years' experience in a Vendor Management, Vendor Contracting, and/or Vendor Procurement environment
- Ability to manage a portfolio of high impact, high-risk, high-value vendors
- Ability to apply vendor tiering and prioritization frameworks
- Ability to translate benchmarking and analytics into actionable negotiation strategies
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams) and SharePoint
- Proficient in Contract Lifecycle Management software
- Knowledge of vendor tiering frameworks and portfolio segmentation
- Knowledge of benchmarking tools and cost optimization practices
- Knowledge of vendor oversight best practices
- Skilled in contract drafting and negotiation
- Proficient in vendor management practices
- Strong negotiation, contract management, and decision-making skills
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, collaboration, organizational, verbal, and written communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a high-performance team under tight time constraints and manage multiple priorities
- Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, or a health-related field is preferred
- Ability to work over 40 hours per week
- Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 5 pounds
