Job Description
Vice President of Engineering overseeing the development and scaling of Pax8’s financial technology platform. Leading engineering teams to ensure compliance and drive innovation in financial transactions.
Responsibilities:
- Own the technical vision and delivery roadmap for the financial platform
- Lead cross-functional partnership with Product, Finance, Operations, and commercial teams
- Communicate technical strategy cascaded from executive leadership across the Engineering organization
- Lead quarterly OKR planning for the Fintech engineering organization
- Establish and maintain governance standards and evaluation frameworks for financial data integrity
- Ensure the financial platform meets global public company compliance obligations
- Own the architectural evolution of event sourced, CQRS-based transaction processing systems
- Guide the integration architecture with external systems such as payment processors
- Lead ecosystem and external developer enablement for the Fintech platform
- Manage and direct the Engineering teams through Directors, Managers, and other direct reports
- Care for professional development opportunities within the organization
- Set technical direction for Engineering and related teams
- Collaborate cross-functionally with other teams and department heads
- Participate in due diligence activities related to acquisitions
- Drive transparency and decision making through the product and engineering leadership team
- Defend and grow Pax8 Engineering culture.
Requirements:
- At least fifteen (15) years of software engineering or related experience
- Five (5) or more years in a VP or equivalent senior engineering leadership role
- Substantial depth in financial systems, billing platforms, or commerce infrastructure
- Experience working in AI-native product and engineering organizations
- Proficient at defining engineering best practices, context, memory patterns, quality gates, and human-in-the-loop (HITL) verification checkpoints
- Proven history of delivering large-scale, mission-critical financial platform capabilities
- Experience leading complex cross-functional initiatives supported by financial and engineering metrics
- Deep expertise in EDA / event-sourced / CQRS architectures
- Strong command of financial systems design including double-entry accounting models
- Experience with subscription lifecycle management
- Experience with AI token commerce
- Expertise in API architecture for financial platforms spanning event-driven messaging, REST, GraphQL
- Deep understanding and commitment to software engineering practices/processes
- Ability to create new and better ways for the organization to be successful
- Ability to build strong partner and stakeholder relationships
- Excellent communication skills for both horizontal and vertical organizational lines
- Strong executive presence and highly influential with stakeholders.
