Job Description

VP leading advertising research, audience measurement, and digital attribution for AARP’s member-focused services business. Transforming insights into growth, client value, and revenue strategies.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the transformation of the research function into a proactive, modern research and insights organization
  • Develop innovative approaches to audience intelligence, ad effectiveness, digital attribution, and measurement
  • Demonstrate tangible business outcomes for clients and partners
  • Diversify the organization’s research tools and vendor ecosystem
  • Leverage foundational platforms such as MRI to generate actionable insights about the 50+ audience
  • Represent the organization as an industry thought leader with clients, at industry events, and through research-driven points of view
  • Transform primary and secondary datasets into compelling narratives and actionable insights
  • Develop the department’s annual research agenda based on enterprise needs and available resources
  • Collaborate with enterprise leaders and stakeholders to apply marketplace and consumer insights to policies, advocacy positions, business strategies, and product or program development
  • Assess stakeholder needs and the value of team-produced insights
  • Participate in external committees and forums to share and apply best practices
  • Own the testing and experimentation agenda, including test design and learning priorities
  • Lead strategic initiatives with material enterprise impact
  • Develop scenarios and translate insights into long-term goals and strategic plans with senior leadership
  • Oversee market intelligence and insights supporting strategic, tactical, and operational decision-making
  • Identify emerging trends, competitive threats, and whitespace opportunities

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in research, marketing, analytics, business, social sciences, or a related field
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in market research, audience insights, consumer research, analytics, media research, or a related discipline
  • Experience leading enterprise-level research strategies
  • Management experience leading and developing research professionals, establishing goals and performance expectations, conducting performance reviews, and building high-performing teams
  • Experience developing modern research and measurement strategies, particularly in digital attribution, ad effectiveness, audience measurement, and demonstrating business outcomes
  • Ability to translate complex research and data into compelling business insights and stories
  • Experience evaluating, implementing, and diversifying third-party research tools, data sources, and vendor partnerships
  • Strong understanding of MRI or comparable syndicated research platforms, including custom audience queries
  • Demonstrated thought leadership and executive presence
  • Experience presenting research and insights to clients, senior executives, and external audiences
  • Regular and reliable job attendance
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Respect and understanding of others to maintain professional relationships
  • Independent judgment in evaluating options and making sound decisions
  • Home office environment with ability to work effectively amid moderate home-environment noise
