Job Description

Senior zOS System Programmer for Mainframe Engineering at Truist. Implementing new releases, troubleshooting issues, and mentoring juniors within the team.

Responsibilities:

  • Help with zOS new release installs, maintenance and OEM installs.
  • Problem tracking, diagnosis and root-cause analysis, replication, troubleshooting, and resolution for complex issues.
  • Perform programming and debugging activities.
  • Respond to issues in a timely manner by receiving and investigating incidents or service tickets.
  • Engage and manage outside vendors as needed.
  • Act as a resource for teammates with less experience.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in infrastructure engineering.
  • Strong knowledge of enterprise infrastructure technologies including cloud, network, database, storage, platform, computing, and middleware.
  • Banking or financial services experience preferred.
  • z/OS, SMP/e, OSMF workflows, IBM Mainframe experience preferred.
  • Familiarity with taking dumps, traces and gathering appropriate documentation for analysis preferred.
  • Hands on with RACF and network security protocols (IPSec, AT-TLS, SSH) preferred.
  • Knowledge of Coupling facility support, High Availability, Automation (OPS/MFS) and Parallel Sysplex preferred.
  • Experience with set up and use of GDPS for disaster recovery and site swaps preferred.
  • Conversant with mainframe hardware upgrades preferred.
  • Production use of BCPii (Base Control Program internal interface) and Restful APIs to automate operation procedures preferred.
