Job Description

Billing Analyst II executing monthly billing, reconciliation, and data quality controls for Perch Energy’s community solar business. Investigating billing issues and improving operational processes.

Responsibilities:

  • Own and execute assigned components of monthly billing cycles, including tracking work requests, coordinating dependencies, and supporting and driving bill run preparation and execution
  • Own billing readiness tracking and proactively identify risks, gaps, and dependencies that could impact billing timelines or accuracy
  • Identify projects and accounts approaching first bill cycles and ensure required billing, utility, and operational data is complete and ready for billing
  • Independently investigate and resolve complex billing issues by analyzing data, identifying root causes, and coordinating with internal and external stakeholders
  • Perform detailed data validation, reconciliation, and quality control checks across billing, transfer, production, and utility data
  • Review and validate billing adjustments, ensuring completeness, accuracy, appropriate documentation, and timely resolution
  • Own utility data tracking and billing readiness activities, proactively identifying missing or inconsistent data that could impact billing
  • Perform post-billing reconciliation, data cleanup, and analysis to ensure billing results are accurate and complete
  • Analyze billing results and identify anomalies, trends, and data issues requiring investigation or corrective action
  • Develop and maintain reporting and analysis used to monitor billing performance, data quality, and operational KPIs
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to investigate recurring issues and develop sustainable solutions rather than relying on manual fixes
  • Identify opportunities to improve billing processes, controls, reporting, and automation, and support implementation of process improvements
  • Document billing processes, requirements, and issue-resolution procedures to improve consistency and scalability
  • Serve as a subject-matter expert for billing processes and data, providing guidance and support to other team members as needed

Requirements:

  • 2–4+ years of experience in billing operations, finance operations, utility/energy, revenue operations, or a related analytical role
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a high degree of attention to detail and data accuracy
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, work independently, and meet strict deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience with systems such as Salesforce, Zuora, Stripe, or similar platforms preferred
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to explain complex data and operational issues clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Advanced Excel skills, including experience working with large datasets, lookup functions, pivot tables, and data validation
  • Demonstrated ability to independently investigate complex issues, identify root causes, and drive issues through resolution
  • Experience using SQL or other data analysis tools to investigate and analyze operational or billing data preferred
  • Strong understanding of data quality, reconciliation, and quality control processes
  • Demonstrated ability to identify process improvement opportunities and contribute to scalable solutions
  • Experience working cross-functionally and coordinating work across multiple teams
  • Experience in the energy, utility, community solar, or renewable energy industry preferred
