Job Description
Red Hat Ansible Engineer automating infrastructure operations for a United States organization. Designing playbooks, managing configurations, deployments, security tasks, and compliance reporting.
Responsibilities:
- Design and implement an automation strategy for the organization's IT systems using Ansible
- Write Ansible playbooks, set up Ansible Tower, and integrate Ansible with other tools and platforms
- Manage the configuration of servers, networks, and software across the organization
- Ensure configurations meet organizational standards and policies
- Automate software deployment across various environments
- Integrate Ansible into the software development and deployment lifecycle with development teams
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues with the Ansible environment and automated tasks
- Provide technical support to IT staff and users
- Ensure Ansible usage and managed configurations comply with security policies and relevant regulations
- Automate security tasks including patch deployment and system hardening
- Document Ansible configurations, playbooks, and procedures
- Prepare regular reports on system performance, availability, and compliance
- Train and mentor IT staff in Ansible and IT automation principles
- Promote automation across the organization
- Participate in an on-call rotation and travel as needed
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field
- At least 5 years of experience in IT
- At least 3 years of experience managing Ansible environments
- Strong understanding of Ansible, including playbooks, roles, and Ansible Tower
- Familiarity with Linux system administration, shell scripting, networking, and security
- Experience with other configuration management or IT automation tools is a plus
- Excellent problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Depending on the role and location, ability to work in a data center environment and handle heavy equipment
- Willingness to participate in an on-call rotation
- Willingness to travel as needed
- RHCE or Red Hat Certified Specialist in Ansible Automation certification highly desirable
