Job Description

Red Hat Ansible Engineer automating infrastructure operations for a United States organization. Designing playbooks, managing configurations, deployments, security tasks, and compliance reporting.

Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement an automation strategy for the organization's IT systems using Ansible
  • Write Ansible playbooks, set up Ansible Tower, and integrate Ansible with other tools and platforms
  • Manage the configuration of servers, networks, and software across the organization
  • Ensure configurations meet organizational standards and policies
  • Automate software deployment across various environments
  • Integrate Ansible into the software development and deployment lifecycle with development teams
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues with the Ansible environment and automated tasks
  • Provide technical support to IT staff and users
  • Ensure Ansible usage and managed configurations comply with security policies and relevant regulations
  • Automate security tasks including patch deployment and system hardening
  • Document Ansible configurations, playbooks, and procedures
  • Prepare regular reports on system performance, availability, and compliance
  • Train and mentor IT staff in Ansible and IT automation principles
  • Promote automation across the organization
  • Participate in an on-call rotation and travel as needed

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field
  • At least 5 years of experience in IT
  • At least 3 years of experience managing Ansible environments
  • Strong understanding of Ansible, including playbooks, roles, and Ansible Tower
  • Familiarity with Linux system administration, shell scripting, networking, and security
  • Experience with other configuration management or IT automation tools is a plus
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Depending on the role and location, ability to work in a data center environment and handle heavy equipment
  • Willingness to participate in an on-call rotation
  • Willingness to travel as needed
  • RHCE or Red Hat Certified Specialist in Ansible Automation certification highly desirable
