Job Description
Associate Backend Software Engineer developing cloud notebook applications for scientific community. Collaborating on feature implementations and creating performant interfaces using Java and AWS.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with team members on priorities, specifications, and feature implementation
- Craft well-documented, clean, and tested code
- Create secure, performant interfaces and services
- Build and maintain new, high-impact functionality into Signals Notebook
- Work with cloud services and technologies
- Leverage Claude Code to understand and analyze the codebase
Requirements:
- 0 - 1 year of professional work experience (and/or internship)
- Bachelor's Degree is preferred
- Knowledge of Object-Oriented Programming
- Proven Familiarity/Usage of Claude Code or other AI Agents
- Good SQL concepts and ability to write complex queries
- Understanding of REST APIs
- Exposure to CI/CD (Jenkins, GitHub)
- Strong teamwork orientation and ability to foster collaboration
- Excellent work ethic and sense of ownership
- Entrepreneurial minded, creative problem solver, and innovative thinker
