Job Description
Senior Backend Engineer developing and maintaining backend services for a logistics startup. Contributing directly to feature delivery and system performance in a collaborative remote environment.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain backend services primarily written in Go
- Build and evolve REST APIs consumed by web and mobile applications
- Work with Postgres, including query performance and data modeling
- Contribute to feature development across different backend domains (core services and backend-for-frontend)
- Improve system performance and reliability, especially ahead of peak usage periods
- Build and maintain automated tests
- Collaborate closely with product and engineering in a two-week sprint cadence
- Pick up tickets independently and move work forward with minimal oversight
Requirements:
- Senior-level backend experience (typically 5+ years; more is welcome)
- Strong experience with server-side development
- Go experience preferred, but not mandatory for exceptional engineers coming from other backend languages (Java, Python, etc.)
- Solid understanding of REST APIs and relational databases (Postgres)
- Comfortable working in a startup environment with evolving requirements
- Ability to work autonomously, communicate clearly, and ask for help when needed
- Bias toward action and ownership
- Previous experience in startup or fast-paced product teams is highly valued
- Nice to Have (Not Required)
- Prior experience working with Go in production
- Familiarity with cloud environments (GCP or similar)
- Experience improving performance in existing systems
