Job Description

Senior Backend Engineer developing and maintaining backend services for a logistics startup. Contributing directly to feature delivery and system performance in a collaborative remote environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain backend services primarily written in Go
  • Build and evolve REST APIs consumed by web and mobile applications
  • Work with Postgres, including query performance and data modeling
  • Contribute to feature development across different backend domains (core services and backend-for-frontend)
  • Improve system performance and reliability, especially ahead of peak usage periods
  • Build and maintain automated tests
  • Collaborate closely with product and engineering in a two-week sprint cadence
  • Pick up tickets independently and move work forward with minimal oversight

Requirements:

  • Senior-level backend experience (typically 5+ years; more is welcome)
  • Strong experience with server-side development
  • Go experience preferred, but not mandatory for exceptional engineers coming from other backend languages (Java, Python, etc.)
  • Solid understanding of REST APIs and relational databases (Postgres)
  • Comfortable working in a startup environment with evolving requirements
  • Ability to work autonomously, communicate clearly, and ask for help when needed
  • Bias toward action and ownership
  • Previous experience in startup or fast-paced product teams is highly valued
  • Nice to Have (Not Required)
  • Prior experience working with Go in production
  • Familiarity with cloud environments (GCP or similar)
  • Experience improving performance in existing systems
