Job Description

Business Development Manager fostering strategic partnerships and driving growth initiatives at R2. Focused on closing the credit gap for small and medium businesses in Latin America through innovative financial solutions.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage relationships with some of R2’s most strategic partners.
  • Oversee day-to-day executive relationships (including the Champion and key executives at partner companies), aiming to understand partners’ strategies and interests and align both parties for future growth.
  • Organize business meetings with key stakeholders to maintain close relationships with our principal partners in Brazil.
  • Promote and lead the development and launch of new segments, products, and countries, leveraging our relationships with strategic partners.
  • Collaborate with the executive team to define and maintain a framework for evaluating new growth opportunities.
  • Prepare unit economics and business plans for new initiatives, working closely with Finance, Risk, and Product teams to evaluate pricing, review risk appetite, and assess alignment with R2’s financial and strategic goals.
  • Lead the implementation of new growth opportunities, including preparing launch plans, overseeing launches, and monitoring post-launch performance.
  • Set growth and profitability targets as well as platform success metrics in coordination with our partners, and monitor these metrics weekly, implementing initiatives to optimize partnership performance.
  • Analyze weekly loan originations and profitability metrics by partner and country with Product, Risk, and Finance teams; identify key trends and drivers of variance against business projections and recommend immediate action plans to address discrepancies and improve performance.
  • Organize regular coverage meetings, monthly updates with key stakeholders, and formal quarterly presentations for partners’ senior executives.
  • Lead negotiations and projects to resolve critical operational issues that arise in the day-to-day management of partnerships.
  • Renegotiate partnership agreement renewals to ensure terms and conditions support a profitable partnership and are aligned with R2’s strategic goals.

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of relevant experience in business development, sales, or other client-facing roles managing relationships with clients.
  • 3+ years working in a fast-paced startup or fintech environment.
  • 3+ years of relevant, applied experience in consulting or finance — including investment banking, private equity, venture capital, or equivalent finance/investing roles.
  • An MBA or a master’s degree in finance or a related field is appreciated but not mandatory.
  • Deep business and financial acumen.
  • Highly proficient in Excel, with an understanding of model architecture and database analyses.
  • Hands-on, builder/owner mentality with a positive 'yes-before-no' and solution-oriented approach.
  • Fluency in English, Spanish, and Portuguese, both written and spoken.
