Job Description
Business Development Representative generating enterprise software consulting opportunities for Leighton. Researching prospects, executing outreach, qualifying leads, and booking meetings for senior business development teams.
Responsibilities:
- Identify decision-makers, craft compelling outreach, and create high-quality opportunities for the senior business development team
- Research and identify high-value enterprise prospects in software development consulting
- Build targeted prospect lists and uncover key decision-makers and business challenges
- Execute strategic prospecting campaigns across phone, email, LinkedIn, and other channels
- Conduct discovery conversations to understand prospect pain points, technology challenges, and strategic priorities
- Assess fit, urgency, and readiness for senior business development engagement
- Schedule high-quality meetings between qualified prospects and Senior Business Development Managers
- Prepare detailed meeting briefings
- Monitor industry trends, competitor movements, and enterprise technology buying shifts
- Bring market intelligence and emerging opportunity insights to the team
- Collaborate with Marketing to refine campaigns and messaging
- Partner with Senior BDMs to support deal progression
- Improve prospecting strategies and conversion rates
- Meet daily and weekly activity metrics and monthly outcome metrics
- Report directly to the Head of Business Development and work as part of the Business Development Team
- Travel regularly to Leeds, Newcastle, and London
Requirements:
- Early in business development career (0–2 years)
- Ambitious and eager for a career in enterprise technology sales
- Able to write compelling emails
- Confident phone conversation skills
- Able to articulate value propositions clearly
- Resilient and persistent when prospecting
- Able to use LinkedIn, company websites, news sources, and databases for prospect research
- Genuine interest in software development, enterprise technology, and CIO/CTO challenges
- Organised and metrics-driven pipeline management
- Able to manage daily activities independently in a collaborative environment
- Comfortable initiating conversations with CIOs and CTOs and asking insightful questions
- Open and genuine communicator
- Able to take responsibility for actions and own development
- Open-minded and willing to explore new ideas
