Job Description

Remote liability claims representative handling U.S. auto casualty claims for Ryder. Investigating property damage and bodily injury exposures, litigation, reserves, and insurers.

Responsibilities:

  • Investigate and adjust property damage and low-to-mid range bodily injury claims
  • Direct independent adjusters, experts, and other vendors in claim handling processes
  • Interact with field and operations management, legal counsel, safety managers, customers, insurance carriers, and third-party claimants
  • Manage litigation according to the applicable jurisdiction
  • Assist the Claim Manager in identifying exposures and recommending solutions
  • Manage indemnity and expense costs
  • Interact with primary and excess insurance carriers and reinsurers on files meeting reporting thresholds
  • Alert the Claim Manager to changes and proposed changes in laws affecting Ryder's liability program
  • Update field operations personnel on claim status when requested
  • Supervise outside vendors and experts assisting with investigations
  • Recommend and set reserves based on documented file developments
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements:

  • Preferred Bachelor's degree and/or a minimum of two (2) years’ experience in casualty claims
  • Two (2) years or more experience in casualty claims
  • Demonstrated ability to handle and resolve low-to-mid range liability exposures
  • Strong claim technical skills
  • Strong commitment to customer focus
  • Effective interpersonal skills and ability to communicate clearly in verbal and written communications
  • Strong negotiation skills and ability to deal effectively with insurers
  • Beginner-level understanding of relevant laws and regulations governing liability claims in the U.S.
  • Beginner-level understanding of insurance coverage
  • Comprehensive beginner-level understanding of relevant laws and regulations
  • Will need to obtain specific licenses if needed
  • Some positions may require employment and education verification, motor vehicle records check, road test, and/or customer badging or background requirements
