Job Description
Claim Representative III handling complex property, collapse, and earth movement claims for a leading West Coast property and casualty insurer. Investigating, negotiating, auditing, and mentoring claims teams remotely.
Responsibilities:
- Provide the highest company-wide level of technical claim-handling
- Investigate, evaluate, and negotiate claims pertaining to Property, Collapse, Earth Movement, and loss of buildings and structures
- Support the team as technical supervisor in the manager’s absence
- Assist with Regional audits
- Mentor less experienced Claim Representatives
- Perform other duties as required or assigned by the Claim Manager or Director
- Support insureds throughout the claims process
- Work directly with agency partners and policyholders to achieve successful claim resolutions
Requirements:
- College degree or equivalent experience
- Seven (7) years of claim experience, including three years’ experience in handling complex claim files
- Knowledge of current claims laws, specifically civil and tort law, and current trends in Property insurance case law and issues
- Good working knowledge of mathematics and common accounting practices relating to gross and net income or living-expense calculations
- Strong negotiation skills
- Ability to communicate complex legal concepts and policy-contract interpretation in writing and orally
- Ability to plan, organize, and prioritize work under the pressure of critical deadlines
- Ability to perform inspections of sites and properties, including roofs, basements, and attics; may require ladders or stairs and kneeling, crawling, and bending
- Maintain a valid California Driver License and operate a vehicle
- Authorized to work in the United States without current or future visa sponsorship
