Job Description

Claims Technical Director handling D&O, EPL, and Financial Institution claims for a specialty insurance company. Ensuring strategic claim settlements and compliance in the Management Liability line.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage all components of claim handling for the Management Liability line of business
  • Independently review submitted materials and policy documents, perform complete coverage analysis, and prepare coverage determination correspondence
  • Review and provide direction on reserve and settlement authority, where required, on complex, specialized claims
  • Support business partners through communication about specific claims, identification of claim trends, input on development, and marketing support
  • Monitor claim quality and customer feedback to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, customer satisfaction and achievement of corporate objectives
  • Operate within company guidelines and authority levels in the settlement of claims
  • Make appropriate decisions on coverage and strategic settlement of claims
  • Review and assign new files as needed

Requirements:

  • Bachelors degree required
  • JD highly recommended
  • Minimum of 7 years D&O claims (public and private company) experience or related education/experience at a coverage firm
  • Must possess high level skills and extensive claims technical knowledge including D&O, EPL, and Financial Institution products and industry
  • Ability to successfully work autonomously and take initiative
  • Extensive knowledge of legal principles, and policy interpretation
  • Prior D&O coverage experience required
  • Must possess expert analytical, decision making, negotiation, problem-solving, project management, organizational, and teamwork skills
  • Must demonstrate superior written and oral communication skills and the ability to communicate professionally with all levels of the organization.
  • Demonstrated strategic thinking capabilities.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with computer software including Microsoft Office suite and other Claims tracking tools.
