Job Description
Controller managing GAAP accounting, forecasting, payroll, and tax compliance for Gamesight, a gaming data and marketing technology company. Improving financial processes, reporting, and controls.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee the accuracy and timeliness of AR, AP, and balance sheet reconciliations
- Manage advanced and technical accounting, including payroll and benefits journal entries, revenue recognition, cost of revenue, and stock compensation expense
- Manage month-end close and prepare monthly financial statements
- Administer semi-monthly payroll for W-2 employees nationwide, non-US employees, and international contractors
- Calculate quarterly sales commissions and other individual variable compensation
- Create annual budgets and quarterly forecasts
- Produce monthly budget-to-actuals and variance analysis for leadership
- Manage cash, cash-flow reporting, analysis, and forecasting
- Answer internal financial queries and assess the company’s financial health and direction
- Escalate and resolve complex customer and vendor billing issues
- Bring financial statements into GAAP compliance and research/document accounting policies
- Maintain the general ledger, chart of accounts, accounting dimensions, and accounting-system integrations
- Partner with People & Operations to maintain the HRIS, ensure regulatory compliance, and administer benefits
- Oversee quarterly and annual federal and state income-tax returns and other tax-compliance filings
- Complete month-end close and financial statements
- Audit revenue and cost-of-revenue entries and make adjusting entries
- Establish monthly gross-margin tracking and reporting by product/service
- Improve and document revenue recognition
- Build a monthly stock-compensation expense process
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required
- CPA required
- Minimum 2–5 years of Controller experience required
- Located in and primarily working from either the Pacific or Mountain Time Zones
- Prior finance experience in a SaaS organization
- History of scaling and improving finance and accounting operations
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to manage time effectively in a remote, fast-paced, rapidly changing environment
- Ability to work accurately with close attention to detail
- Flexibility to adapt to changing business needs and deadlines
- Ability to handle highly sensitive and confidential information
- Passion for video games, tabletop games, the gaming industry, and/or content creation
- Must be eligible to work in the United States for full-time employment
