Job Description
DBA managing PostgreSQL, bulk data, and governance for Webbing’s global telecom connectivity and IoT platform. Building resilient databases, mediation pipelines, monitoring, and disaster recovery.
Responsibilities:
- Own every database underpinning the multi-site telecoms platform, from core BSS/OSS/NOC modules through PostgreSQL application stores
- Maintain interfaces to vendor-managed databases in HSS, OCS, PCRF, and SMSC network nodes
- Ensure mediation pipelines bringing network data into required systems are reliable, complete, and governed by clear data-handling policies
- Build an end-to-end backup, restoration, and disaster-recovery framework for BSS and network-layer PostgreSQL clusters
- Develop performance optimization covering index strategies, query tuning, table partitioning, and vacuuming schedules
- Build bulk data pipelines for imports, exports, migrations, and timed purges of subscriber CDRs and event records
- Design and enforce data handling, retention, archival, and compliance policies
- Create database monitoring dashboards with alerting for replication lag, lock contention, query performance, and disk saturation
- Create installation and upgrade playbooks for PostgreSQL instances
- Develop cross-platform data integration between BSS mediation and network-element databases
- Advise BSS and Workflow engineering teams on schema and data architecture
- Establish database access controls, roles, privileges, row-level security, and audit logging
- Maintain runbooks and a knowledge base for database operations, DR, and incident response
Requirements:
- Strong hands-on PostgreSQL administration: installation, configuration, replication (logical/streaming), upgrade, and vacuum tuning
- Proven backup and restore experience: pg_dump, pg_basebackup, WAL archiving, point-in-time recovery, and DR testing
- Query performance analysis: EXPLAIN/ANALYZE, index design (B-Tree, partial, composite), and schema-level optimisation
- Bulk data operations: large COPY/INSERT loads, logical replication for live migrations, and automated purge/archival pipelines
- Data governance: designing and documenting retention, archival, masking, and access-control policies
- Scripting in Python or Bash for automation of backup jobs, health-check scripts, and bulk-load utilities
- Experience with containerized database deployments (Docker / Kubernetes)
- Monitoring: setting up Prometheus postgres_exporter and building Grafana dashboards for database KPIs
- High-availability patterns: replication failover, connection pooling (PgBouncer / Pgpool), and read-replica routing
- Ability to work independently across multiple concurrent projects in a distributed, async-first team
- Multi-datacenter replication and active-passive failover between geographically distributed clusters
- Experience with telecoms BSS/OSS platforms (billing, subscription management, or mediation systems) is a strong advantage
- Familiarity with network-element databases: HSS (HLR), OCS, PCRF, SMSC, or PGW data models is a strong advantage
- Data compliance experience (GDPR subscriber data, CDR retention regulations in EU jurisdictions) is a strong advantage
- Exposure to mediation layer data formats (ASN.1, IPDR, Diameter AVPs) is nice to have
- Experience with BI or reporting extracts from operational BSS databases is nice to have
Benefits:
- Fully remote
- Great skill and knowledge development opportunities
- Opportunity to join a team of highly professional specialists in an international environment
- Professional development within a reputable international innovative and growing company
