Job Description
Lead DevOps engineer running Astreya's GCP infrastructure, deployments, security, and platform reliability. Mentoring engineers and supporting customer cloud environments.
Responsibilities:
- Own the cloud infrastructure and DevOps function for Astreya's product portfolio
- Design, build and operate the GCP footprint, including GKE, Artifact Registry, Cloud SQL, Cloud Storage, Memorystore, Vertex AI, monitoring/logging and DNS
- Own network, perimeter, secrets, keys, identity and certificate lifecycle design
- Evaluate new platform services and produce recommendations with working proofs of concept
- Manage cloud cost attribution, budget alerts, rightsizing and commitment planning
- Make product deployment into customer-VPC and Astreya-hosted environments repeatable, documented and reliable
- Own Helm charts, namespace and pod topology, environment configuration, migrations and rollback paths
- Work with customer infrastructure and security teams during onboarding and take products to production
- Produce and maintain architecture, data-flow, access-control, encryption and audit evidence
- Own CI/CD across products, including build pipelines, artifact promotion, environment strategy and branching strategies
- Write Terraform automation and internal tooling for infrastructure provisioning and operations
- Build observability through metrics, logs, traces, alerting, dashboards and SLOs
- Improve platform scalability, reliability, capacity and performance, including AI/LLM infrastructure
- Harden the platform through image scanning, vulnerability management, network policy, secrets hygiene and patching
- Lead and mentor DevOps and infrastructure engineers, set standards and review work
- Partner with product owners and engineering leads to identify infrastructure bottlenecks and resolutions
- Own platform incident response and produce specific root cause analyses
- Improve support processes and tooling, document decisions and maintain runbooks and resolution history
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree (B.S/B.A) from a four-year college or university and 8+ years' related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Deep, hands-on Google Cloud experience designing and running production workloads on GCP
- Strong production Kubernetes experience, preferably GKE, including networking, ingress, autoscaling, resource management and debugging failures under load
- Professional-standard infrastructure as code experience with Terraform, including module design, state management and review discipline
- Strong scripting and coding ability in Python, Go, Bash or equivalent
- Sufficient software development experience to work inside application repositories
- Practical cloud networking and security expertise: VPC design, private connectivity, IAM, secrets management and TLS
- CI/CD ownership across multiple products and release trains, with source control branching strategies
- Monitoring, alerting and incident management experience, including writing RCAs
- Experience with open-source tooling in large distributed systems
- Good communication skills for working with customer security teams and developers
- Ability to learn unfamiliar technology quickly and manage multiple threads
- Working Azure knowledge; AWS exposure is a bonus
- Experience deploying products into customer-controlled cloud environments as a vendor
- Experience supporting AI/ML workloads in production
- Exposure to SOC 2, ISO 27001 or comparable infrastructure audits
- Experience integrating with enterprise ITSM platforms such as ServiceNow
- Prior experience as a first or early infrastructure hire on a product team
- Relevant certification such as Google Professional Cloud Architect, Professional Cloud DevOps Engineer or CKA
- Ability to perform office-related tasks, including prolonged sitting or standing
- Ability to move within an office environment
- Ability to use a computer
- Ability to communicate effectively
- Ability to perform occasional repetitive wrist, hand or finger movements where required
