Job Description

Business Development Director growing clinical-trial revenue across Asia-Pacific markets. Leading enterprise sales, strategic partnerships, and a 3–6-person BD team.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute business development strategy for an assigned therapeutic area, customer segment, or geographic region
  • Build and manage a portfolio of AUD$10-15M in actively developing opportunities
  • Own new business sales responsibility for assigned business units
  • Manage sales budget allocation, resource deployment, and profitability targets
  • Develop business case analyses for strategic BD initiatives and market opportunities
  • Manage enterprise clients and C-suite sponsor relationships
  • Lead high-value contract negotiations and complex deal structures
  • Lead and coach a team of 3-6 BD professionals
  • Conduct market analysis and competitive landscape assessments
  • Lead major strategic proposals and RFP responses
  • Coordinate clinical, operations, finance, and regulatory teams on proposals
  • Represent the company at industry conferences, association boards, and strategic partnerships
  • Provide market insights and business performance updates to executive leadership
  • Participate in strategic business planning and annual sales goal-setting

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Life Sciences, Pharmacy, Business, or related field
  • 7-9 years of professional experience in sales, business development, or related field
  • 5-7 years of experience in pharmaceutical, biotech, or CRO industry
  • 2-3 years of significant leadership experience managing BD teams and budgets
  • Strong strategic thinking and comprehensive business unit strategy development
  • Advanced senior-level relationship management and enterprise sales capabilities
  • Team leadership, talent development, and people management skills
  • Financial acumen, sales cycle management, and business planning expertise
  • Excellent communication and executive presence
  • Proficiency with Salesforce CRM and business analytics
  • Technological proficiency including Microsoft Office packages
  • Flexibility and adaptability in changing and ambiguous environments
