Job Description
Institutional giving director growing foundation and government grants for Partnership for a Healthier America. Leading proposals, funder relationships, compliance, and development staff.
Responsibilities:
- Own and grow PHA's foundation and government grants portfolio, currently targeting $3M+ in annual revenue, across prospect research, cultivation, proposal development, stewardship, and reporting
- Develop and execute a year-round grants strategy that diversifies institutional funding, raises revenue, and builds a multi-year pipeline
- Write, edit, and manage grant proposals, letters of inquiry, and funder reports
- Build relationships with foundation and institutional funders, including transformational seven-figure partners
- Coordinate executive sponsors on marquee funder relationships
- Partner with program leadership to align proposals with program design, deliverables, outcomes, and capacity
- Collaborate with Impact & Evaluation staff to secure data, outcomes, and case studies
- Partner with Marketing & Communications to create development materials and impact storytelling
- Oversee grants management and compliance, reporting, and expenditure tracking with Finance
- Supervise and develop the Development Coordinator, including prospect research, grants calendar, acknowledgment workflows, and Salesforce CRM management
- Maintain a transparent and actionable pipeline and reporting rhythm for leadership
- Represent Partnership for a Healthier America with funders, partners, the Board of Directors, and at sector convenings
- Report to the SVP Strategic Partnerships and work closely with the SVP of Programs
Requirements:
- Minimum of 6 years of nonprofit development experience
- Demonstrated track record of securing five- and six-figure foundation and/or government grants
- Experience with seven-figure institutional funders strongly preferred
- Bachelor's or master's degree in a related field, or equivalent professional experience
- Exceptional and demonstrable grant writing and editing skills
- Ability to translate complex program and impact information into clear, compelling, data-backed narratives
- Dynamic presentation skills
- Experience building and managing a diversified institutional funding pipeline and cultivating multi-year funder relationships
- Working knowledge of grants management and compliance, including funder reporting and expenditure tracking
- Strong project management skills and ability to manage multiple deadlines across a year-round grants calendar
- Collaborative working style and ability to partner across programs, finance, marketing and communications, evaluation, and leadership
- Experience supervising, mentoring, or developing staff
- Proficiency with CRM/donor databases and prospect research tools; Salesforce preferred
