Job Description
Director of Finance leading accounting, controls, and reporting for OpenDor Media, a global Judaism and Israel nonprofit. Owning close, audit, budgeting, compliance, systems, and team leadership.
Responsibilities:
- Own the general ledger, chart of accounts, data integrity, and full monthly, quarterly, and annual close cycle
- Prepare consolidated U.S. GAAP financial statements and variance analysis
- Own revenue recognition for contributions, grants, and earned revenue
- Prepare reporting packages for leadership, the Board, and other constituents
- Manage accounting and reporting for non-U.S. operations, intercompany activity, foreign currency translation, and foreign operation funding
- Ensure local statutory filings, payroll tax, indirect tax, and Israeli VAT compliance
- Oversee U.S. and international payroll processing and related liabilities
- Design, document, test, and improve the internal control environment
- Lead the annual audit and Form 990 process and manage external audit and tax firms
- Draft, maintain, and enforce finance policies and procedures
- Run the annual budget and ongoing forecast cycle operationally
- Partner with program divisions on budgets, actuals, and spending decisions
- Maintain supporting schedules for the multi-year financial model and analyze financial trends
- Own operating cash management, banking administration, accounts receivable, and weekly cash and investment reporting
- Support the CFO on investment reporting, reserve monitoring, and policy compliance
- Lead and develop the finance and accounting team
- Own finance systems, banking platforms, workflow tools, automation, process improvement, documentation, and SOPs
Requirements:
- 8+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience, including responsibility for a full close cycle and consolidated financial statements
- Deep working knowledge of U.S. GAAP, with direct experience applying nonprofit accounting standards
- Experience in a multi-entity, multi-currency, or multi-country environment
- Demonstrated ownership of an external audit and an organization's internal control environment
- Experience supervising and developing accounting staff
- Strong ERP and systems fluency
- High proficiency with Excel and Google Workspace
- CPA and/or MBA with a strong accounting background preferred
- Nonprofit sector experience preferred
- Knowledge of payroll processes, VAT, and cross-border operations preferred
- Experience implementing or optimizing an ERP or AP automation platform preferred
- Familiarity with Form 990 and nonprofit governance practice preferred
- Strong written and verbal communication, sound judgment, discretion, and autonomy
