Job Description
Research director leading health economics, drug pricing, and healthcare studies at GoodRx, a U.S. prescription savings platform. Guiding strategy, teams, analysis, and research impact.
Responsibilities:
- Set the vision, strategy, and quarterly roadmap for the Research function
- Lead, coach, and develop the Research team
- Establish team goals, KPIs, and operating processes
- Own high-priority research projects end-to-end, from question framing and methodology design through data analysis, communication, and impact measurement
- Apply health economics, statistical, and data science methods to healthcare, medication access, and drug pricing issues
- Use internal and external data to develop analyses, models, visualizations, and research products
- Define research scope, methods, and standards while balancing rigor, speed, and relevance
- Improve existing datasets with cross-functional teams and external vendors or partners
- Translate complex findings into articles, blog posts, recurring reports, white papers, briefings, and other content
- Partner with PR, Editorial, Marketing, Government Affairs, Strategy, Sales, B2B Marketing, Product, and other teams
- Advise senior leaders on research findings, implications, limitations, and recommended actions
- Represent GoodRx externally with journalists, academic collaborators, industry stakeholders, and other audiences
- Manage the Research budget, vendors, contracts, and renewals
- Quantify GoodRx’s impact and relevance through credible research and measurement
- Strengthen the team through coaching, hiring, capability building, and clear expectations
Requirements:
- 12+ years of experience in research, health economics, analytics, data science, or a closely related field with a Master’s degree, 8+ years with a Ph.D., or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Graduate training in economics, health economics, statistics, public health, data science, or another quantitative field
- Ph.D. preferred
- 4+ years of experience directly managing and developing people
- Strong knowledge of the U.S. healthcare system, prescription drug markets, medication access, or drug pricing
- Proficiency with R, SQL, and/or Python
- Ability to complete and evaluate analytical work for methodological soundness
- Demonstrated ability to turn complex data into credible insights, research products, and recommendations
- Excellent writing and presentation skills
- Strong judgment about research design, prioritization, data quality, and tradeoffs between speed and rigor
- Experience creating clear and compelling data visualizations
- Proficiency with Excel required
- Experience with Looker, Tableau, or an equivalent tool is a plus
- Strong cross-functional communication and stakeholder-management skills
- Comfort representing research externally, or willingness and ability to develop that skill
- Curiosity, intellectual honesty, attention to detail, and passion for using evidence to improve people’s health and financial outcomes
- LA preferred; remote also considered
- Engineering teams must support appropriate security controls and adhere to GoodRx security policies and procedures
