Job Description
Engineering Director scaling DeepHealth’s healthcare technology platform and distributed software organization. Driving architecture, delivery, compliance, AI/ML adoption, and executive technology strategy.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the engineering organization responsible for building and scaling DeepHealth’s platform and products
- Drive technical strategy, architecture decisions, engineering excellence, and the multi-year engineering roadmap
- Lead architecture and design decisions for complex distributed systems, ensuring scalability, reliability, and security
- Establish engineering standards, processes, best practices, delivery accountability, system uptime, and technical debt management
- Partner with Product Management to execute the product roadmap and translate business requirements into engineering plans
- Drive agile delivery practices and ensure high-quality releases meeting regulatory and compliance standards
- Collaborate with Clinical, Data Science, Design, Product, Operations, Commercial, and executive leadership teams
- Establish engineering KPIs and OKRs and communicate technical concepts and trade-offs to stakeholders, executives, and the Board
- Drive innovation in tooling, automation, and AI/ML adoption
- Recruit, retain, develop, supervise, coach, and evaluate engineering talent across backend, frontend, platform, and data engineering
- Define team structures, roles, career ladders, performance frameworks, and onboarding programs
- Assign and prioritize workloads, monitor progress, adjust resources, conduct performance reviews, and implement development or improvement plans
- Foster technical excellence, accountability, continuous improvement, psychological safety, inclusive collaboration, and conflict resolution
- Champion emerging technologies and evaluate build-versus-buy decisions
- Contribute to executive leadership strategy, culture, and decision-making
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field required
- 12+ years of software engineering experience
- 5+ years in engineering leadership roles
- Experience ideally in SaaS, health tech, or regulated industries
- Proven track record building and scaling distributed software systems and high-performing engineering organizations
- Deep expertise in AWS, GCP, or Azure, microservices, APIs, and modern DevOps/CI-CD practices
- Ability to work across code, architecture reviews, and executive-level roadmap discussions
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong analytical mindset using engineering metrics, system performance data, and business outcomes
- Ability to lead cross-functional teams in fast-paced, ambiguous environments with competing priorities
- Excellent program management skills and ability to drive multiple initiatives in parallel
- Experience with GitHub, Jira, PagerDuty, Datadog, or similar engineering productivity and observability platforms
- Experience working in HIPAA-compliant environments
- Familiarity with HL7 and FHIR is a plus
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 10%
- Compliance with employment laws, DeepHealth policies, data privacy, safety, confidentiality, and universal safety standards
- Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, twist, reach, use hands and fingers, handle or feel, speak, listen, and perform high-level cognitive work
- Ability to lift up to 10 pounds occasionally
