Job Description
Early Careers Recruiting Lead building intern and graduate pipelines for Michael Baker International, an engineering and consulting firm. Owning university partnerships, recruiting strategy, internship programs, and talent conversion.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and own the annual early-careers hiring strategy aligned with workforce plans.
- Set targets for intern and graduate hiring and manage the early-careers recruiting budget.
- Advise hiring managers and practice leaders on early-talent needs, offer strategy, and market conditions.
- Own university relations and campus engagement programs.
- Build partnerships with target universities, career centers, and student chapters.
- Develop and oversee career fairs, info sessions, employer panels, and networking events.
- Coordinate technical staff and alumni ambassadors for campus engagement.
- Lead sourcing, screening, interviewing, offers, and onboarding coordination for internships, co-ops, and entry-level roles.
- Deliver a consistent candidate experience from first contact through the first day.
- Help design and lead the summer internship program, including orientation, learning sessions, manager check-ins, and evaluations.
- Manage intern-to-full-time conversion and support early-tenure retention.
- Partner with Recruitment Communications and Marketing on student-focused campaigns, collateral, and social content.
- Champion diversity, inclusion, veteran, and community engagement in sourcing and outreach.
- Track and report funnel conversion, pipeline diversity, offer acceptance, intern conversion, cost per hire, and time to fill.
- Use data and feedback to improve events, partnerships, and programs.
- Ensure compliance with hiring regulations.
- Guide and coach recruiters, coordinators, seasonal support, hiring managers, and campus ambassadors across a matrix while managing personal requisitions and events.
- Report results to Talent Acquisition and business leadership.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business, Communications, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- 10+ years of recruiting experience, including at least 5 years in university or early-careers recruiting.
- Demonstrated success managing high-volume intern and new-graduate pipelines and campus relationships.
- Proficiency with an applicant tracking system and sourcing tools.
- Strong analytical skills, with the ability to use recruiting metrics to shape strategy.
- Excellent presentation, communication, and relationship-building skills with students, faculty, and executives.
- Ability to travel moderately during the early careers recruiting season.
- Experience recruiting for engineering, architecture, construction, planning, or other professional-services firms preferred.
- Experience designing or managing an internship, co-op, or rotational program preferred.
- Experience leading through influence in a matrix organization, including coaching recruiters, coordinators, or interns preferred.
- Familiarity with federal contractor hiring requirements preferred.
- Successful completion of pre-employment substance abuse testing and background checks.
