Job Description
Engineering Manager leading application, cloud, and internal tooling security at Grafana Labs. Guiding vulnerability management and security strategy for its open-source observability platform.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the application security team across application security, cloud security, and internal tooling development
- Lead first- and third-party vulnerability management, including coordinated disclosure and embargoed fixes
- Define, optimize, and implement engineering strategy with security leadership, individual contributors, and business stakeholders
- Conduct regular 1:1s, coaching, and mentoring
- Provide continuous feedback and maintain high team standards
- Collaborate with engineering leaders and stakeholders on product strategy, roadmaps, and designs
- Engage in significant incidents through preparation, simulation, response, and customer notification and communications
- Contribute to and review design documents for upcoming projects
- Ensure projects are well-defined and ready for development
- Advise on breaking projects into tasks
Requirements:
- Prior experience running a security engineering team
- Strong engineering background and ability to engage in technical conversations
- Ability to challenge teams to reach strong technical decisions
- Comfort working with autonomous engineering teams
- Up-to-date knowledge of technical trends and shifts
- DevOps mindset focused on enablement, automation, and guardrails
- Familiarity with securing and operating on public cloud providers: AWS, GCP, and Azure
- Familiarity with Kubernetes
- Familiarity with securing combined open-source software (OSS) and SaaS products
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to articulate complex cybersecurity concepts to technical and non-technical audiences
- Ability to translate security problems into business impact
