Job Description
Engineering Manager leading product engineers building Render’s developer-first cloud platform. Shaping scalable systems, developer experience, roadmaps, and team growth.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and grow a team of product engineers through mentorship, feedback, and technical guidance
- Drive key product initiatives from ideation through launch while balancing speed, reliability, and quality
- Partner with Product and Design to translate customer needs into technical solutions and product roadmaps
- Guide system design decisions and help navigate architectural tradeoffs
- Foster ownership, accountability, continuous improvement, and effective engineering processes
- Break down complex problems into incremental milestones supporting immediate value and long-term platform evolution
- Ensure teams understand developer experience and customer impact
- Collaborate with product management, customers, and internal teams to align priorities and deliver impactful features
Requirements:
- 8+ years as an Engineer shipping products and/or features with downstream business and product ecosystem impact
- 2+ years managing people and developing engineers, including hiring, mentorship, and performance management
- Strong technical background in system design, architecture, and engineering tradeoffs
- Product-oriented mindset translating business goals and user needs into engineering roadmaps and shipped features
- Ability to balance urgency with thoughtful execution while maintaining high quality
- Excellent communication and collaboration across engineering, product, and design
- Strong ownership and accountability for team outcomes and long-term system health
- Experience with developer platforms, cloud infrastructure, or DevTools (nice to have)
- Experience with highly scalable distributed systems or infrastructure platforms (nice to have)
- Experience improving engineering velocity through tooling, processes, and team practices (nice to have)
- Experience building products used directly by developers or technical users (nice to have)
- Successful collaboration with product, marketing, and customer support teams to drive adoption and retention (nice to have)
- Legal authorization to work in the United States
- Generally not eligible for new visa sponsorship; existing visa transfers may be sponsored at Render’s discretion with business authorization
