Job Description
Executive Director overseeing product and technology at Endpoints News. Leading technical architecture and product delivery while managing a small engineering team.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the technical architecture and drive the build and delivery of products across the Endpoints ecosystem.
- Make pragmatic build/buy/integrate decisions, with a strong bias toward leveraging modern tooling (including AI and LLM-powered workflows) to ship faster.
- Partner directly with editorial and business leadership to translate ideas into shipped features, moving as fast as the newsroom demands to serve our readers.
- Review, refine, and ship code and products created by non-engineering team members, evaluating them on their merits and getting solid work into production quickly.
- Lead and grow the tech and engineering team, setting standards, unblocking people, and building a culture of speed and craftsmanship.
- Work closely with senior leadership to shape the product direction and have a strong bias towards “here's how we build that.”
Requirements:
- Mid career technical leader who has set architecture direction and shipped products at a high-velocity startup or product-driven company.
- Experience in media, publishing, or an adjacent space.
- LLM-native: You use AI tools as a core part of your workflow and understand how they're changing what's possible for non-engineers.
- A proven builder with strong full-stack or backend engineering fundamentals who is still actively writing code.
- Comfortable in a player-coach role. You're managing a small team but you're still in the work every day.
- You care about what ships, not who gets credit.
