Job Description

Virtual Financial Consultant delivering compliant financial planning and investment solutions to Flagstar Bank’s mass affluent clients. Building virtual client relationships, managing a book of business, and connecting customers with broader banking services.

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver personalized financial guidance and investment solutions to mass affluent clients with typically $50,000–$250,000 in investable assets
  • Engage clients through video, phone, and digital channels to assess needs and provide tailored guidance
  • Build and grow a mass affluent book of business through referrals, outreach, and relationship deepening
  • Refer clients to Flagstar Private Bank, Mortgage, and Consumer Lending business lines
  • Develop and present financial plans covering investment management, retirement planning, estate planning considerations, and risk management
  • Recommend and sell covered investment and financial products under the R-INV Sales Program
  • Monitor market trends, product offerings, and regulatory changes
  • Maintain accurate records of interactions, recommendations, and transactions
  • Follow Quality Assurance processes and R-INV Sales Policy standards
  • Participate in training, compliance reviews, and performance assessments
  • Exercise independent judgment on recommendations, product suitability, and client concern escalations
  • Resolve client account, service delivery, and compliance issues in the virtual advisory model
  • Perform special projects and additional duties as required
  • Maintain compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and required training

Requirements:

  • Undergraduate degree (4 years or equivalent) in Finance, Business, Economics, or a related field, or 5+ years of relevant experience
  • 2+ years of experience in financial services, wealth management, or investment advisory roles
  • Demonstrated experience serving mass affluent or retail investment clients
  • Active FINRA Series 7 and Series 66 licenses, or Series 63 plus Series 65, required at time of hire
  • Active Life & Health Insurance license required, or ability to obtain within 90 days of hire
  • Strong proficiency with video conferencing platforms, CRM systems, and digital financial planning software
  • CFP® designation or active progress toward certification preferred
  • Experience with LPL Financial, Raymond James, or similar brokerage/advisory platforms preferred
  • Familiarity with fiduciary standards and Regulation Best Interest suitability requirements preferred
  • Prior virtual or phone-based financial advisory experience preferred
  • Strong financial acumen and ability to explain complex investment and financial planning concepts clearly and compliantly
  • High ethical standards and commitment to regulatory compliance, suitability, and client-first advisory practices
  • Consultative sales approach and ability to identify needs and deliver tailored financial solutions
  • Ability to independently manage a virtual book of business, prioritize demands, and maintain attention to detail
