Job Description
Financial Controller owning accounting, reconciliations, expenditure oversight, and reporting. Improving financial controls and delivering actionable insights to support business decisions.
Responsibilities:
- Take ownership of day-to-day financial control and accounting activities
- Manage and review financial transactions, expenditure, and reconciliations
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records
- Prepare and analyse financial reports to support business decision-making
- Monitor financial performance and identify unusual trends, discrepancies, or potential risks
- Review expenditure and identify opportunities for cost savings and greater efficiency
- Support improvements to financial processes, controls, and reporting
- Investigate discrepancies and follow issues through to resolution
- Provide clear financial insights to non-financial stakeholders
- Ensure financial processes are followed consistently and accurately
- Work closely with internal stakeholders and challenge expenditure or processes where appropriate
- Take ownership of financial issues and proactively identify solutions
- Maintain strong attention to detail while keeping sight of the wider commercial picture
Requirements:
- 5–10 years of relevant experience in Financial Control, Accounting, Finance Management, or a similar role
- Strong hands-on experience with QuickBooks or a comparable accounting platform
- Experience managing financial transactions, reconciliations, and expenditure
- Strong financial analysis and reporting skills
- Experience identifying cost-saving opportunities or improving financial processes
- Ability to identify unusual trends, discrepancies, and financial risks
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Good commercial awareness and ability to understand the bigger picture
- Experience working independently and taking ownership of a financial function
- Strong organisational skills and follow-through
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Experience with other accounting and financial software
- CA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent professional qualification is advantageous but not required
