Job Description

Founding Engineer building a lakehouse and FHIR data platform for a healthcare AI scale-up. Processing millions of clinical events and integrating hospital systems across Latin America.

Responsibilities:

  • Design and build a high-volume event-driven data platform from scratch
  • Ingest and process millions of events into a lakehouse architecture
  • Transform and standardize clinical data into FHIR (Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources) format
  • Build and maintain PostgreSQL and MongoDB systems at scale
  • Work directly with external hospital IT teams to gather technical requirements and integrate with legacy infrastructure
  • Build developer-facing public APIs for external clients
  • Own the full stack from event ingestion through serving data to external clients and internal analytics
  • Use AI coding tools daily to accelerate development

Requirements:

  • 7+ years of hands-on software engineering experience, currently operating as an individual contributor shipping production code
  • Proven experience designing and building high-volume event-driven architectures or event bus patterns
  • Production experience with PostgreSQL and MongoDB at scale, handling millions of records
  • Professional-level fluency in both Portuguese and English
  • Experience with large-scale, heavy data systems in production
  • Based in Latin America, or exceptional cases in Europe with willingness to work LATAM hours and travel occasionally
  • Must be a hands-on individual contributor; not recently transitioned into pure management or director roles
