Job Description

Fuels neutronics and thermal-hydraulics engineer developing nuclear engineering methods, models, and analyses. Supporting Framatome’s carbon-free energy technologies and customer solutions.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform complex engineering assignments involving design, development, analysis, evaluation, testing, specifications, field tasks, and resolution of field problems
  • Independently review department work products, risk assessments, Apparent Cause Analyses, Root Cause Analyses, and Failure Modes and Effects Analyses
  • Propose solutions and work scope to the supervisor
  • Work autonomously on most assignments and solutions
  • Ensure compliance with government regulations, organizational, industry, and customer engineering standards
  • Evaluate, select, and apply technical techniques, procedures, and criteria
  • Make complex adaptations and modifications for tasks not previously performed
  • Develop new or adapted products, methods, systems, or models that provide value-added customer solutions
  • Understand the impact of work on internal and external organizations
  • Work on special projects as directed
  • Suggest and implement process improvements

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering; degrees in Physics, Engineering Technology, and Engineering Science may also be accepted depending on the position
  • Minimum of 7 years of related experience
  • Advanced knowledge of related engineering standards, techniques, and criteria
  • Excellent communication skills to comprehend and convey detailed technical data
  • Ability to grow a developed network and maintain good interpersonal relationships
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment
  • Advanced problem identification and problem resolution skills

  • Questioning attitude and self-checking practices
  • Advanced proficiency with specialized software tools and programming languages as required by the role
  • Preferred experience with core neutronics simulator codes: ARTEMIS, PRISM, NEMO, SIMULATE
  • Preferred experience with plant simulation codes: RELAP, CATHARE
  • Preferred experience with plant thermal-hydraulic codes: COBRA-FLX, XCOBRA-IIIC, Star-CCM+
  • Computer programming and scripting capabilities in FORTRAN, PYTHON, C++, and LINUX
  • Offers are contingent on a background check and drug screen where applicable
  • Must meet eligibility requirements for access to information subject to U.S. export control regulations, including DOE 810 Appendix A
