Job Description
Head of Cloud Engineering leading a seven-person team at Axians Switzerland, delivering managed cloud and infrastructure services. Driving standards, innovation, governance, and customer-platform reliability.
Responsibilities:
- Disciplinary and functional leadership of the Cloud Engineering team of seven employees
- Coaching, performance reviews, employee development, and personnel reporting
- Responsibility for recruitment and strategic workforce, capacity, and resource planning
- Fostering a high-performing engineering culture with a strong service and customer focus
- Further developing the service and performance portfolio together with the Business Line
- Ensuring sustainable knowledge and competence management within the team
- Defining, establishing, and enforcing professional and methodological standards and best practices
- Promoting innovation and identifying new technologies and market trends
- Ensuring compliance with Axians Somnitec AG’s normative, regulatory, and strategic requirements
- Contributing to budget planning, investment decisions, and the strategic development of the area of responsibility
- Promoting cross-functional collaboration and organization-wide knowledge transfer
- Managing escalations involving complex technical or organizational challenges
- Continuously developing processes, policies, and governance models
- Actively contributing to technical solution approaches and acting as a sparring partner on challenging projects
Requirements:
- Several years of leadership and hands-on experience in an engineering or infrastructure environment
- Industry experience in IT, ideally in a managed services environment
- Completed advanced professional education (HF/FH) in Computer Science or an equivalent qualification
- In-depth understanding of modern cloud, platform, and infrastructure services
- Experience leading and developing technical teams and specialist departments
- Experience in knowledge, competence, and talent management is an advantage
- Proven experience leading technical specialists
- Strong affinity for standardization, quality management, and automation
- Analytical, structured, and solution-oriented approach to work
- Very good written and spoken German and English
- Interconnected, strategic, and entrepreneurial thinking
- Demonstrated accountability and reliable execution
- Role-model behavior with regard to values, standards, and expectations
- Ability to develop employees and foster personal responsibility
- Ability to address conflicts openly, make clear decisions, and implement them consistently
