Job Description
Head of Finance overseeing regulatory reporting and financial controls for Kraken’s Cyprus-based MiFID entity. Supporting compliance, audits, reconciliations, and board-level financial reporting.
Responsibilities:
- Serve as Head of Finance for Payward Europe Digital Solutions, a Cyprus-based MiFID firm
- Support drafting and enhancing financial compliance policies, programs, and procedures
- Prepare, track, and maintain key financial metrics required by regulations
- Understand and communicate the entity’s revenues, P&L, balance sheet, and overall financial condition
- Compile data and submit financial regulatory reports
- Assist internal stakeholders and auditors with audited annual financial statements
- Oversee execution of financial policies and internal controls
- Respond to finance-related regulatory requests in partnership with Compliance
- Oversee monthly and quarterly financial closings
- Prepare and track local entity budgets
- Report periodically to the CCO, CEO, and Board of Directors on financial matters
- Oversee project management for financial projects
- Collaborate across functions to support deliverables and financial statement preparation
- Support defining and approving business requirements for financial and related systems, and validate system compliance with those requirements
- Oversee EEA-specific internal financial controls and mitigate residual risks outside the firm’s risk appetite
- Coordinate with Treasury and Banking & Payments teams
- Support Compliance and Regulatory Legal teams in reviewing new and changing laws and executing remediation plans
- Provide financial support for new licence applications and renewals
- Monitor, test, and ensure compliance with asset-segregation regulations
- Perform other tasks assigned by PEDSL leadership
Requirements:
- 12–15 years of experience with a Bachelor’s/Master’s in financial analysis, regulatory reporting, or a similar role
- 3–5 years of experience in a fintech/relevant industry
- Expert-level proficiency with financial analysis and reporting tools
- Strong understanding of financial regulatory requirements, compliance, and financial reporting standards
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously
- Ownership of all financial and treasury reconciliations for PEDSL, including client funding reconciliations, for senior management approval
- Ability to develop a robust control environment
- Experience with MiFID II and associated custodial/safeguarding regulatory requirements
- ACA or other relevant certification
- Passion for or growing intrigue in cryptocurrency adoption; personal crypto experience preferred
- Relevant degree in Finance or Accounting is listed as a nice-to-have
- Experience in cryptocurrency or fintech is listed as a nice-to-have
- Familiarity with MiFID II regulatory requirements and processes is listed as a nice-to-have
- Prior experience with regulation of virtual asset services or money service businesses in Cyprus or a similar regulatory jurisdiction is listed as a nice-to-have
- Ability to work cross-functionally with Group Finance and other internal partners is listed as a nice-to-have
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills listed as a nice-to-have
