Job Description

IT Analyst I supporting utility applications, testing, troubleshooting, and customer information systems. Helping Versant Power deliver reliable electricity across northern and eastern Maine.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide technology support, triage, configuration, testing and maintenance for specified applications or services
  • Monitor and maintain operational processing for application business areas
  • Report anomalies and work with intermediate and senior technicians to resolve problems
  • Support development and testing of new applications, application changes and upgrades
  • Provide secondary testing and documentation before solutions move to production
  • Perform data analysis, problem analysis, testing analysis and problem resolution for internal customers
  • Research and recreate system issues to determine their causes
  • Work with external vendors to resolve system issues
  • Modify and update business processes with internal customers to support evolving requirements
  • Determine issue-reproduction steps, system improvements and process improvements with internal customers
  • Create system-use instructions and provide training on new features and functionality
  • Assist with training new department members and developing other support resources
  • Support, test, configure and troubleshoot Customer Information Systems (CIS)
  • Provide backup for single points of failure in Production Operations
  • Prepare documentation supporting the department's work plan
  • Assist with special projects and gathering external customer data for mail merges
  • Report environmental issues and deviations to the Environmental Department

Requirements:

  • Associate degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience required
  • Minimum of 6 months experience in a client-focused IT support role preferred
  • Exposure to testing methodologies required
  • Strong customer service ethics
  • Ability to work independently or in teams
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Exposure to utility application systems, billing systems and/or electrical infrastructure and design preferred
  • Must be willing to travel for training
  • Valid driver's license required
  • Ability to multitask and appropriately prioritize responsibilities
  • Extensive computer use
  • Occasional travel, including overnight stays, required
  • Must comply with internal audit requirements, test policies and change control processes
  • Must work in accordance with documented environmental procedures and instructions
