Job Description
Java engineering team lead building secure, scalable software for Tiko’s adolescent health platform. Leading backend engineers, agile delivery, and platform development across South Africa.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and develop the individuals in your team
- Maintain and develop new features on the software platform
- Participate in agile rituals and practices
- Coordinate the software engineering team's work
- Apply software engineering principles to software design, development, maintenance, testing, and evaluation
- Ensure developed software is secure and compliant with data protection requirements
- Document work clearly for future use by others
- Lead the team through the recruitment process stages, including technical challenge and interviews
Requirements:
- 8+ years of backend engineering experience focused on JVM languages
- 3+ years of formal leadership experience managing a team of Java backend engineers, including responsibility for conducting team performance reviews
- Experience within Microservices and AWS
- Extensive experience working with the Spring framework and various other Java backend tools and frameworks
- Experience or knowledge of Salesforce CRM would be a plus
- Experience building software from the ground up
- Desire to build scalable systems with quality
- Based in South Africa
- Excellent English skills
