Job Description

Junior developer supporting a federal IT modernization project building AI-enabled applications. Contributing to software development, Azure DevOps, databases, Power BI, and Agile delivery.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in designing, developing, testing, and deploying software applications using modern frameworks and languages
  • Help maintain and improve CI/CD pipelines, support automated testing, and assist with deployments in coordination with the Azure DevOps Engineer
  • Assist in building reports, dashboards, and data visualizations using Power BI or similar platforms
  • Help maintain relational and non-relational databases and assist with data modeling and query writing
  • Collaborate with senior developers, the Solution Architect, DevOps Engineer, and Data Scientists
  • Participate in peer code reviews
  • Help document code, data flows, and processes for knowledge sharing and compliance
  • Participate in sprint planning, daily stand-ups, retrospectives, and other agile ceremonies
  • Follow federal data security guidelines and best practices in development work
  • Support a Federal client’s business and IT modernization project building an AI-enabled application

Requirements:

  • Ability to obtain a DOI Public Trust Moderate Clearance
  • Must be a U.S. citizen, Green Card holder, or have an Employment Authorization Document with at least 3 years of consistent U.S. residency
  • Basic to intermediate knowledge of React, Angular, Vue.js, .NET Core, Node.js, or C#
  • Familiarity with SQL and relational database concepts
  • Understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC)
  • Exposure to CI/CD pipelines such as Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions
  • Basic familiarity with Docker or containerization concepts
  • Interest in or experience with Azure Kubernetes Services (AKS) or cloud infrastructure
  • Experience with version control systems such as Git
  • Experience with Power BI, Tableau, or similar BI/data visualization tools is a strong plus
  • Ability to write SQL queries for reporting and data analysis
  • Familiarity with data modeling concepts and building dashboards or reports
  • Understanding of ETL processes is a plus
  • Strong desire to learn and grow in a fast-paced, collaborative environment
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills
  • Reliable attendance and ability to occasionally work outside normal business hours when needed
  • Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodology is a plus
  • Familiarity with CMMI is a plus
  • BS degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Computer Engineering, or a related field; equivalent work experience or certifications will be considered
  • 1–3 years of overall IT/software development experience
  • 1+ years of hands-on application development experience
  • 1+ years of DevOps tools or CI/CD exposure
  • 1+ years of BI/reporting tools experience preferred
  • Exposure to cloud-based development, Azure preferred
  • Exposure to Agile/Scrum development methodology preferred
  • Federal IT or government contracting experience is a plus, not required
