Job Description

Lead DSP software engineer developing embedded C/C++ communications systems for L3Harris Technologies. Leading waveform design, real-time signal processing, and Agile product development teams.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead a cross-functional team with hands-on responsibility for all phases of software development, from requirements definition through integration and testing
  • Research, design, develop, modify, and evaluate embedded software for electronic and communications systems alongside hardware product development
  • Lead and contribute to assigned portions of the product development cycle using Agile Scrum
  • Perform requirements analysis, use case scenario development, conceptual design, trade studies, testing, operation, maintenance, and reliability analysis for radio communications products and systems
  • Collaborate with test, manufacturing, product, and program management teams to define and execute radio product development
  • Convert customer requirements into total systems solutions balancing technical, schedule, and cost constraints
  • Consult with electrical engineers to evaluate hardware/software interfaces and overall system operational performance
  • Develop software system testing procedures and design documentation
  • Apply current DSP techniques and methodologies to real-time signal processing solutions
  • Contribute to the strategic direction of DSP solutions and identify innovation opportunities
  • Work with Agile software engineering teams on innovative real-time signal processing projects
  • Approximately 10% travel to the site for training purposes

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in an Engineering discipline and a minimum of 9 years of relevant experience developing real-time embedded software in C or C++
  • OR graduate degree and a minimum of 7 years of prior related experience
  • OR, in lieu of a degree, a minimum of 13 years of prior related experience
  • Experience developing, designing, and implementing DSP algorithms
  • Experience simulating and analyzing DSP algorithms
  • Ability to interpret hardware schematics, circuit designs, and datasheets
  • Proficiency with multi-threaded, multi-core design and/or real-time operating systems
  • Experience with all phases of the software project development life cycle, including software analysis, design, development, testing, software unit testing, and automation tools
  • Experience with Agile software development methodologies using SCRUM
  • Experience/knowledge of CMMI systems and software development processes or other defined software development processes
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to analyze and debug software and related hardware issues
  • Experience working in or with FPGA design, development, and test teams
  • Radio communications or IP networking experience
  • Experience with small team leadership, including planning, coaching, tracking performance, and applying course corrections
  • Ability to obtain US Security Clearance
  • Approximately 10% travel to the site for training purposes
  • Experience with DSP, embedded C++/C, and MATLAB
  • Experience leading collaborative software design, development, and test teams
