Job Description
Lead Software Engineer building scalable cloud platforms and web experiences for SteelSeries gaming peripherals. Designing APIs and cloud architecture for gamers worldwide.
Responsibilities:
- Work closely with hardware and software product teams to deliver a best-in-class web experience for gamers
- Develop scalable cloud architectures, high-traffic websites, and open APIs supporting the product portfolio
- Come up to speed with the React and AWS container-based technology stack
- Ship a new feature in the cloud platform within the first month
- Evaluate the cloud platform architecture and suggest refactoring opportunities
- Collaborate with product management and engineering to plan cloud platform changes
- Assist product management in defining the quarterly cloud platform roadmap
- Innovate and add features to web-based gaming experiences
- Test and provide feedback on unannounced hardware products
- Align with hardware and software product teams on upcoming product vision
- Help define hardware and web APIs connecting apps with hardware and cloud services
- Proactively refactor code and maintain adequate test coverage
- Evaluate programming languages, frameworks, and tools for potential integration or migration
- Educate software teams on code, testing, and documentation quality best practices
Requirements:
- 7+ years of experience in full-stack software engineering
- Experience building scalable cloud solutions, including container orchestration, database design, network infrastructure, and distributed systems design
- Experience designing and building web back ends and web user interfaces
- Demonstrated ability to build and operate reliable, high-availability cloud platforms
- Hands-on experience with observability, including logging, tracing, and monitoring
- Experience with resilience engineering
- Proven experience leading a platform engineering team to deliver well-documented and well-tested cloud solutions
- Proficiency leveraging AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot, Claude, or ChatGPT
- Experience leading a team of software engineers to produce tested and well-documented software
- Desire to mentor and elevate fellow engineers
- Eagerness to continuously learn and excel in software engineering
